Auxiliary Flying Field

The Rio Grande R/C Flyers have established an auxiliary field to support the demand for turbine powered flying sites in the area as well as to establish a new site when and if flight operations at the Penitas flying site are no longer feasible due to the urbanization of the area. The field is an official AMA sanctioned flying site and is insured as a standing AMA site. Access to the field is limited to Weekends and is by reservation only! This flying site features covered pit area, 2000 X 40 foot asphalt runway with grass landing areas on either side of the runway, power, frequency control board, starting bench and bathroom facilities.

Take 281 north to 490 (old Tejas RC Site). Go east on 490 (17 Miles) to 1425. Take 1425 South (1 Mile) to 1921. Go West on 1921 until the first driveway on the left. Parking is on the west side of the hanger. R/C flying is on the North East Corner of the hanger.
